Thanks for checking into my blog. If you asked me five years ago, I’m sure I would have sworn that “blog” is a word that I would NEVER use, let alone ever DO! So with a great deal of surprise, and admittedly some fear, here goes.
Why a blog?
Let’s start with the easy answer first — because I can do a better job of communicating with you. Plus, some of you have asked for it. (Talk about being careful what you ask for!)
I have spent most of the past eight years focused on long-term strategic issues relating to power supply, transmission, and growing our business. This work has been invigorating and important for our future, but it has taken me on the road a lot, and it’s often left me exhausted. During the same period, 60% of you are new to Wolverine, and we don’t know each other very well. Besides, some of you work shifts, and many of you work in the field, so I don’t get the chance to see you much.
What are the goals for the blog?
- I hope the blog helps me better communicate with you, and it allows you to get to know me.
- The blog format allows you to engage with each other and respond to me. The idea is to be informal, so I can push a quick message to you, and you can respond to it.
- You will be able to read it from your mobile device.
I hope you find some of my posts interesting, informative, and maybe fun. Since one goal of this blog is to invite two-way communication, please comment and send me an idea for a future post.
Great Idea, looking forward to finding out more about what keeps Wolverine moving forward. Might not be what you were thinking, but how about a post with a little background on yourself for those of us who are part of the 60%?.
Joe. Thanks for the feedback. (btw, HR “fact checked” my stat and about 50 of you have worked at Wolverine less than 8 years — that’s a remarkably high number to me!) Also, thanks for the idea about a future post. Look for future blogs that touch on my personal story.
